Niwa

privacy policy

Effective date: 24 June 2026

Niwa is a calm daily puzzle app. This policy explains what it stores, what leaves your device, and the choices you have. It is written plainly on purpose.

the short version

what stays on your device

Your progress is saved locally on your phone and is not sent anywhere: your solves, scores, streak, and earned seals; your settings; and the fortunes you have drawn.

what is sent for the leaderboard

If you set a display name, Niwa keeps a public leaderboard so players can compare scores. To do that, the following is stored on our backend (hosted by Supabase, which provides the database and anonymous accounts on our behalf):

We do not collect your real name, email, contacts, precise location, photos, or any device advertising identifier. Display names are checked for length, allowed characters, and common offensive words before they are saved.

notifications and calendar

If you turn on daily reminders, Niwa schedules local reminder notifications, which you can turn off any time. The calendar reminder option creates a calendar file that you choose whether to add. Niwa does not access or read your calendar.

your choices and deletion

You can play entirely without a leaderboard name; nothing is sent until you set one. Reset account in Settings deletes your leaderboard data (your profile and your scores) from the backend and clears all local data, returning you to a fresh start.

children

Niwa is suitable for all ages. It contains no chat, no messaging, no photos, and no way for players to contact one another — only chosen display names and scores appear on the leaderboard.

changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated.
